Police are on the hunt for the driver of a white hatchback who may have witnessed the moment a 17-year-old was hit by a Land Rover in Cumbernauld.

At around 6.55pm on Thursday, September 20, the young man was crossing Central Way in Cumbernauld when he was struck by a Land Rover. 

Emergency services attended and the man was taken to University Hospital Monklands where medical staff describe his condition as stable.

Sergeant Craig Beaver, Motherwell Road Policing Unit, said: “We are still appealing for anyone who was in the area that night who may have witnessed the incident take place, and have not yet spoken to police, or may have seen the Land Rover vehicle beforehand.

“We know from CCTV footage that a white hatchback car is driving on the same bit of road at the time of the incident and we are appealing for the driver of that car to come forward with any information they may have.
