A DRIVER and passengers within a 4x4 in Shotts at the same time as an attempted murder have been urged to come forward.

Detectives are keen to speak to the occupants of the car, which was spotted driving along Shottskirk Road towards Station Road around 3.15am on September 16, who they believe may have vital information on the attack.

A 19-year-old man was slashed as he walked along a path near to Shottskirk Road while walking with his girlfriend.

The attack was carried out by a man who emerged from a small silver-coloured car, which pulled up alongside the duo as they walked. He then sprayed the woman with a liquid before making off towards Dyfrig Street.

The man and woman were taken by ambulance to Wishaw General Hospital where they were both treated and released.

Detective Constable Mark Cummings of Wishaw Police Office said: “Enquiries are continuing into this incident, which is being treated as attempted murder.

“Officers are still appealing for any witnesses to come forward and would like to speak to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident.

"In particular, they would like to speak to the occupants of a 4x4 car that drove along Shottskirk Road towards Station Road at 3.15am as they may hold vital information that will assist the ongoing investigation.
