ONE of Scotland's top music promoters has hailed the Hydro as an asset to live music.

Geoff Ellis, who is the chief executive of DF Concerts and Events, praised the arena ahead of its fifth birthday which falls on Sunday.

Geoff's firm, which brought TRNSMT festival to the city, said: “Having The SSE Hydro is such an asset to live music, not only for Glasgow but for the whole country.

“Over the past five years, DF Concerts have booked some world-class acts to play the venue including Adele, Muse, Paolo Nutini and many more. Particular highlights of mine have been Paul Simon’s visit on his final tour and our Gala Concert for the Ryder Cup in 2014 featuring Nile Rodgers with the RSNO, Texas, Amy Macdonald, Scottish Ballet, National Theatre of Scotland and Scottish Opera.

“The audience experience at arena level is so much better than it’s ever been in Scotland due to The SSE Hydro, and its size, flexibility and all year round availability means that we are able to attract more major artists to Scotland on a regular basis.”
