TRAFFIC is at a standstill on the M8 this morning due to a car fire.
Traffic Scotland raised the alarm at around 7.25am.
The team said on Twitter: “Traffic at a standstill on the M8 westbound, from junction 29 St James to junction 30 Erskine Bridge due to a car fire.

“Traffic backing up to junction 28 Glasgow Airport.”
All lanes westbound are being restricted for up to 45 minutes.
Traffic Scotland issued an update at 7.40am, and said: “Regarding the incident on the M8 westbound from junction 29 St James to junction 30 Erskine Bridge, lane two is now open, but lane one remains closed due to a car fire. Traffic is backing up past Glasgow Airport to junction 27 Arkleston.”

As of 7.57am, all lanes were open. However, Traffic Scotland added: “Westbound traffic is back up to junction 26 Hillington, though with eastbound traffic also back to junction 30 from junction 29 St James.”
