A popular restaurant premises in Glasgow city centre has new owners - just days after the previous owner announced its shock departure.

As previously reported by the Evening Times, Carluccio’s on West Nile Street was asked to leave the premises by its landlord earlier than expected.

The restaurant was due to close at the end of the year but shut its doors for good on Monday.

Sushi and Japanese steakhouse restaurant Benihana now looks set to open in its place.

Glasgow Times:

It will be the first opening by the Japanese cuisine 'performance' restaurant outside of London.

An application to put up signage at the city centre premises, at the corner with Drury Street, has been submitted and will now be assessed by city officials.

Speaking at the time, a spokeswoman for Carluccio’s said: “Due to circumstances beyond our control, and at the landlord’s request, Carluccio’s Glasgow will close earlier than planned."
