A MAN has been charged after an assistant referee was struck with a coin during Rangers' defeat at Livingston last weekend.
Police said they had received an "overwhelming" response after appealing for information over the incident at the Tony Macaroni Arena on Sunday.
Calum Spence received treatment for a wound to the back of his head after being struck by an object while running the line in front of the Rangers support.
Superintendent Craig Smith, event commander for the Ladbrokes Premiership match, said: "As a result of this incident we received an overwhelming number of calls from the public, who shared our position that such behaviour was totally unacceptable.
"I'd like to thank both sets of supporters, the respective clubs and the general public for their assistance during this investigation."
The arrested man is scheduled to appear at Livingston Sheriff Court on Friday.
