EVENING Times readers are being given a first-look at the city’s newest hotel as it prepares to open in the Merchant City.

Marriott’s lifestyle brand, Moxy, has also appointed Glaswegian hotelier Ross Saunders to lead the launch of the new 181-bedroomed venue.

The opening will create 32 jobs.

Moxy has been described as a “playful and edgy, millennial-focused boutique hotel brand” that is “reinvigorating the hotel experience for the budget savvy traveller.”

Aged just 32, Ross is taking the helm as “captain,” the brand’s take on a general manager.

Having worked in the hospitality industry in the city for the last 15 years, bosses believe he is “well equipped” to launch Moxy to the masses.

Ross described how, as a Glaswegian, he is “proud to be launching the hotel on home soil.”

He added: “The city always punches above its weight for providing excellent, friendly hospitality.

“Moxy will stand out for being a different player in the field with its unique approach to the guest experience, and we’re looking forward to throwing open our doors next month and showcasing what Moxy is all about.”

The hotel is due to open on High Street - opposite the Old College Bar - on November 13.

Moxy opened its first branch in Milan in September 2014.

It now has 22 hotels across Europe with another 20 planned to open in the next 18 months.

Five Moxy Hotels have been launched in the UK, a further four are scheduled to open in the UK next year.
