TAKE THAT stars Gary Barlow and Howard Donald have delighted fans by making a surprise appearance at a Scottish theatre.

The pair showed up at Aberdeen's His Majesty's Theatre last night for a showing of the the musical The Band, which is inspired by the music of Take That.

The singers shared an image of themselves inside the theatre.

The Band began its life as a musical through the BBC reality television show Let It Shine, which aired last year.

The reality show was presented by Graham Norton and featured judges Take That frontman Gary Barlow, singer Danni Minogue and former Spandau Ballet star Martin Kemp. Guest judges also included singer Lulu, Glee star Amber Riley and comedian Peter Kay.

Aspiring musical theatre stars from across the UK battled it out over the various stages of the competition to win a space in the band.

AJ Bentley, Nick Carsberg, Curtis T Johns, Yazdan Qafouri and Sario Soloman were the eventual winners who made the band.

The musical by Tim Firth, who is also behind Our House and Calendar Girls, opened to rave reviews in Manchester Opera House last September, and the current tour will continue until March 2019.

Take That will return to Glasgow next year with a new tour celebrating 30 years of the band. The group will play several dates at the city's SSE Hydro in April.
