A Glasgow gran has gone viral after opting for an unusual haircut at her local barbers.

Rena Johnston from Glasgow took social media by storm earlier this week after her daughter took her for an impromptu trim.

The 87-year-old decided to avoid the usual perm or blue rinse, instead going for a 'short, back and sides' at a Turkish barbers at The Forge shopping centre.

Her daughter Jacqui forwarded the end results onto her son Jack, who couldn't resist putting them on Facebook.

Thousands of social media users heaped compliments on Rena describing her new cut as "fresh" and "fly".

Grandson Jack posted the pictures to Facebook with the caption: “Not a chance. Canny believe my maw’s took my gran to the Turkish barbers. They’ve put wax in her hair and gave her a quiff.”

Gran Rena has been papped in the barbers chair with a head of grey hair – while an after shot shows her with her short cropped do.

Jack uploaded the pictures on Sunday, and his post now has over 10,000 likes, 13,000 comments and over 14,000 shares.
