Rangers legend Paul Gascoigne's nomination for the Scottish Football Hall of Fame has been withdrawn.
Midfielder Gascoigne, 51, who signed at Ibrox in 1995 and played a key role in the dominant side of the 1990s, was nominated by the public before being put forward for the hall of fame by a panel of experts.
However, his name has beeen withdrawn from the list amid reports SFA board members threatened to boycott the Hampden Park awards ceremony on October 21 in protest, the BBC reports.
The Scottish Football Hall of Fame cited "a number of factors, including ongoing enquiries, and concerns over the state of Paul's health".
A Scottish Football Hall of Fame statement read: “Further to consultation with the chair and members of the Scottish Football Hall of Fame committee, due to a number of factors including ongoing enquiries, and concerns over the state of Paul’s health, it has been decided to withdraw the nomination of Paul Gascoigne at this time from this year’s nomination process.”
