A PUPIL who attends Lenzie Academy in East Dunbartonshire has died, the local authority confirmed.
Shocked children at the school heard about the death earlier today.
East Dunbartonshire Council confirmed that a pupil had passed away.
Education bosses said counselling is being offered to any school pupils who require it.
Ann Davie, East Dunbartonshire Council's depute chief executive - education, people and Business, said: "We have been informed about the death of a Lenzie Academy pupil.
"Support is being provided to pupils and staff at the school and our thoughts are with family and friends at this very sad time."
