The family of a man who died in a crash on the A7 have said he was in the process of adopting when he died.

Jamie Lindsay, who was driving his VW Polo towards Longtown, died after a 'near head on collision' with a White Landrover travelling in the opposite direction on Tuesday afternoon.

The 41-year-old came from the village of Killearn in the Campsie Fells, where he lived all his life until he met his partner, Mike Lindsay, a doctor in the Royal Navy, reports our sister title The News and Star.

In a tribute, Jamie's family said: "Both families grew close and were delighted when they got married.

"There was never a dull moment in Jamie’s company.

"Jamie’s career began with an interest in aviation but he realised that his love of all things mechanical was greater.

"He read civil engineering in Glasgow and worked for several major companies before setting up his own.

"He later founded a logistics company. At the time of his death he was in the process of setting up an airline.

"Mike and Jamie were in the process of adopting two young boys when he passed away.

"He will be sadly missed by his husband, family and friends. Mike and Jamie had a very happy relationship that lasted almost 15 years."
