A NEW take-away could open up in Barlanark if city planners approve.

A planning application was submitted this week to turn a former sandwich shop into a hot food take-away on Hallhill Road.

Those behind the plans say the unit has remained empty for some time because businesses interested in taking over the space have either been hot food take-away or hair and beauty.

If approved, the unit could be let to Spice Merchant and the proposed hours of opening would be Monday to Thursday, 4pm to 11.30pm; Friday and Saturday, 4pm to midnight and Sunday, 4pm to 11.30pm.

A planning statement said: "The proposals will provide a long-term use for this vacant building providing investment and jobs in the local area."

A decision on the plans is expected by December 11 and the last date for comments is November 9.
