Plans to turn a category B Listed building into four luxury flats have been refused after an appeal.

MLB Properties had planned to transform the four-storey terraced house on Cleveden Drive, in Kelvinside, into separate homes.

But those proposals were kicked out after planning chiefs claimed the move would be detrimental to the character of the building.

The developers had planned to install new windows in the roof space, but the planning appeals committee claimed that would give the house a “cluttered effect”.

Cleveden Street sits in the Glasgow West Conservation Area meaning the area has special protected status against undesirable changes.

In their design statement, sent on behalf of the developers, Inch Architecture said: “The property has been used as a house in multiple occupation (HMO) since the early 20th century, according to the existing owner.”

The developers claimed that the building is currently out of character with other homes in the area.

Glasgow’s planning committee had previously rejected the application as they felt it would negatively impact the look and character of the building.

And they had pointed to the fact that there wouldn’t be a private garden for each of the four flats.
