The Scottish Secretary said keeping the UK together after Brexit is a red line issue for Scottish Tories.

David Mundell said he will defend the UK and accused the SNP of seeking to use Brexit to further Independence.

At Scottish Questions in Westminster, David Mundell, said: “I will defend the UK until my last breath.

“The integrity of the United Kingdom is a red line for me and my Conservative colleagues on leaving the EU.

“I know those in the SNP want a Brexit of the most disruptive kind they see as the best way to take forward their cause.”

Later at Prime Minister’s Questions SNP Westminster Leader Ian Blackford told Theresa May she must agree a deal that will protect jobs.

He quoted the Prime Minister during the EU referendum when she said leaving the EU will cost jobs.

Mr Blackford said: “We will act as a constructive opposition.” Pointing to the Conservative Backbenchers He added: The enemy is behind her.”

Mr Blackford said: “No Prime Minister should negotiate a deal that threatens jobs.

Staying in the single market and the customs union is the only deal that will get through this house.”

Labour Shadow Scottish Secretary Lesley Laird said the Government should back Labour’s suggestion of staying in the customs union to prevent a border in the Irish sea and protect Scotland’s place in the UK.

Mr Mundell said a border in the Irish sea was not acceptable to him or his colleagues.
