A GRANDFATHER ran 13.2miles to raise charity cash after his grandson was born with a heart defect.
Phil Hazell, 60, from Renfrew, raised almost £1700 for British Heart Foundation Scotland by running the “gruelling” Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon in London.
Phil’s grandson Seth was born in November last year with a hole in his heart.

He said: “Doctors detected Seth’s heart defect after he was born but were hopeful that it would fix itself. However Seth was struggling to put on weight so doctors made the decision to operate.
“It’s a relatively standard procedure for the surgeons but not for my family. It was an incredibly emotional time.”
“I wanted to something for the charity that gives babies like Seth a fighting chance.”
