LUTHER star Idris Elba is reportedly taking to the streets of Glasgow this Friday to shoot scenes for a major Hollywood blockbuster.

It was reported earlier this month that Elba and Vanessa Kirby had been listed among the cast for the David Leitch-directed film - but it had not been known who would be involved in the Glasgow scenes.

A crew of around 200 have hit the City Centre from today to film scenes for Hobbs and Shaw, a Fast and Furious spin-off starring The Rock and Jason Statham.

A movie insider confirmed the news about the Luther star on Monday, reports Glasgow Live.

Elba previously shot down rumours he would be replacing Daniel Craig as 007.

The star, 46, had been hotly tipped for the spy role after Craig, 50, bows out of the famous film franchise.

Asked, after James Bond’s catchphrase, if he would prefer his Martini shaken or stirred, Elba told Good Morning Britain: “Stir fried, actually.”

Reporter Divya Kohli then asked: “Am I looking at the next 007?”, to which Elba promptly replied: “No.”

His comment came after Danny Boyle quit as director of the next Bond movie, starring Craig, “due to creative differences”.

As reported by the Evening Times, George Square, Ingram Street and St Vincent Street will be among the areas closed off for filming between October 23 and 29.
