HALLOWEEN is nearly upon us and there's a whole host of spooktacular events to get you in the mood across the city. 

Glasgow is set to be alive with activity tonight and tomorrow as the annual festival arrives next week. 

Here's our list of events not to be missed if you're looking for a hauntingly good time.

1. Day of the Dead

Looking for something a little bit different this year? Then why not get yourself down to the Day of the Dead and get a taste of the celebration Latin America style. 

Mexico's most famous festival sees gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died, and help support their spiritual journey.

The festival is always a wonderful mix of colour and celebration.

Tonight, Saint Luke's in the city's east end will host another piñata-packed night of live music, dance & theatre performances, Latin tunes, facepainting, lashings of tequila, cocktails and Mexican street food. 

Rapido Mariachi, Scotland’s best loved sombrero-topped four-piece, famed for their Barrowlands appearance with Canadian art rockers Arcade Fire, will take to the stage to perform their danceable, alternative pop twist on the mariachi tradition.

2. Horror Night

Back for a second year, Horror Nights Glasgow is bigger and more terrifying than ever.

Featuring live scare actors and an amazing movie in an abandoned haunted warehouse, the show takes audiences on a scaretastic journey during the showing of their favourite film. 

Tonight, the horror will kick off with a showing of classic 80s action as Ghostbusters come to town. 

This will be followed by a showing of the original Scream film. 

The event kicks off tonight at 6.30pm in the Govan Shed with Ghostbusters and Scream starts at 9.30pm.

3. Halloween Disco

If you're looking for some family-friendly fun then the Hollowe'en disco in the Southside is the place for you. 

The Space & The Dream Machine presents a family friendly spooktacular event with a fully accesible disco from 6pm. 

Dust off those fangs and come dressed up but don’t worry - if you don’t have anything to wear, there will be a free selection of costumes to borrow and even face paints. 

The whole event is on a pay what you decide basis.

It all kicks off tonight at The Space in London Road.

4. Queer Theory 

Glasgow Times:

Queer Theory returns to popular Sauchiehall Street joint Nice N Sleazy today with a Halloween special featuring live music, drag, poetry and comedy.

Costing only £5, guests will be treated to an incredible night of fun. From burlesque, poetry, to comedy, the night is not to be missed. 

All the action starts at 7.30pm and goes on until late. 

5. Drive in 

Glasgow Times:

Our final entry may not be in Glasgow, but it's definetly worth the short drive to Lanarkshire take in M&Ds Hallowe'en drive in movie night. 

Taking place from today until the Monday, there will be a whole host of frightening flicks in the drive in's 10th year. 

From the Lost Boys, the cult classic, The Shining, to family favourite Hotel Transylvania 2, there is plenty for everyone.
