A MURDER investigation is underway after following the suspicious death of a man in North Lanarkshire.

Police Scotland said that, at around 1am on Sunday, October 28, a member of the public contacted the force after ‎finding the man seriously injured on Panmuir Street, a new housing development between Holytown and Newarthill.

The Scottish Ambulance Service attended and took the man to Wishaw General Hospital where he died shortly after.

Officers have now launched a murder investigation and have turned to the public for help in piecing together what happened.

Detective chief inspector Dave Pinkney, from the Major Investigation Team, said: “Currently, our investigation is focusing on establishing the identity of the man and the circumstances that surrounded him being found injured.

“If you believe you saw any suspicious activity around Panmuir Street, or the Holytown area, during the early hours of Sunday morning, please contact us immediately.

"Similarly, if you have any information that can assist with this investigation, please also get in touch.”
