Both men sustained whiplash and were taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley where they were treated for minor injuries.

The vehicle was wrecked in the crash, which happened as they were travelling to a job in Helensburgh at around 10.20am this morning.

Ewan, from Renfrew, told the Daily Record: "We were on our way to a job in Helensburgh when Robert - who was driving - slowed down in traffic on the M8 between the St James' Interchange and the Erskine Bridge.

"Suddenly, a lorry crashed into the back of us and caused my head to smash into the passenger window.

"I bust my lip and have cuts all over my face while we both also suffered pretty bad whiplash, although Robert's was worse.

"I'm still don't know much about what exactly happened, but I'm just glad me and Robert are okay."

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "At 10.20am, police were called to a road crash involving a heavy goods vehicle, a car and a van at junction 29 of the M8.
