THE opening date for Glasgow’s newest hotel has been revealed amid plans for a star-studded, week-long launch party.

The Evening Times previously gave readers a first-look at the Merchant City venue.

Marriott’s lifestyle brand, Moxy, will see the 181-bedroomed building open on High Street on November 13.

Moxy is known for its modern, contemporary look and bosses hope to attract tech-savvy millennials.

Guests are also encouraged to add to the brand’s Instagram hashtag, #atthemoxy, which the hotel refers to as its “interactive guestbook.” The lobby bar will feature games, like cards and Jenga.

As we previously told, bosses announced the appointment of Glaswegian general manager Ross Saunders who will lead the launch.

Marriott’s fifth Moxy in the UK will also create 32 new jobs for Glasgow.

Ross said: “Moxy have really made a name for themselves in the hospitality industry as a spirited and fun place to stay where they are no rules or boundaries.

“Locating ourselves in the Merchant City, the hotel will reflect the history and vibe of the local area with some specially commissioned, quirky art.”

Plans for the opening launch parties are, so far, being kept under wraps, but bosses have promised a week-long programme of events that will include live music, DJs and celebrity guests.
