THE opening date for one of two new TJ Hughes stores has been announced.

As told in the Evening Times early last month, the 'big brands, big bargains’ retailer' could create more than 100 new jobs as part of its expansion across Scotland

The first of the stores, in East Kilbride, will open next week, with a grand opening date of Thursday, November 8, set for TJ Hughes.

The store's Clyde Shopping Centre venture does not yet have an opening date, with bosses saying it is 'coming soon'.

The company's CEO Anil Juneja said: "‘Our East Kilbride and Clydebank stores will make a fantastic addition to the TJ’s Scotland store portfolio. Local shoppers will be able to enjoy big brands across homeware, fashion, cosmetics, technology as well as children’s clothing and toys at a fraction of their original cost."

Specialising in brand clothing, shoppers in East Kilbride will be able to enjoy a new 24,000 sq ft store.

Meanwhile, the Clydebank store will also offer Smart Foods, a convenience store which will launch on the day of the opening.

To celebrate the openings, the first 31 customers through the doors will be given vouchers worth between £5 and £50.

The first 50 customers to buy from the Regatta concessions will also receive a free men’s or women’s fleece as part of the opening celebrations.

The TJ Hughes CEO added: "We want to celebrate with the people of East Kilbride and Clydebank by rewarding our first 31 customers at each opening with vouchers.

"We will also be offering unbeatable big brand bargains throughout opening week.

"Come and join in the TJ Hughes fun in Scotland."
