THE family of a young Celtic fan who was found dead in the River Clyde after a night out in Glasgow have thanked the public for their support as they release funeral details.
As previously reported by the Evening Times, James Anderson, from Johnstone, had been in the City Centre on October 23 with workmates.
The 20-year-old’s dad Joe raised the alarm on Facebook the following day after James failed to come home.

After issuing a desperate plea for information on Facebook, Joe broke the devastating news about his son’s passing a short time later.
He said: “I can’t believe I am having to write this but, unfortunately, it’s been confirmed James has passed away.
“Enquiries are still ongoing as to exactly what has happened. On behalf of myself, James’ mum and the rest of the family, we all appreciate the kind words and help from everyone.”

Now, Joe has thanked the public for their “kind words.”
He said: “I just want to thank everyone on behalf of myself, my wife and my whole family for all the kind words and support over the last few days.”
Confirming funeral details, he added: “James’ funeral is on Wednesday, November 7 at Johnstone Town Hall at 1.30pm and then onto Broomward Cemetery, Elderslie, at 2.15pm.”

A Police Scotland spokeswoman previously said the death was being treated as “unexplained.”
She added: “At 10.25am on Wednesday, October 24, the body of a 20-year-old man was discovered in the River Clyde, close to Glasgow Green.
“A postmortem examination will take place in due course to establish the exact cause of death.
“A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
The Evening Times has contacted Police Scotland for an update.
