A DOCUMENTARY into the gruesome murder of Paige Doherty has revealed the motive behind the schoolgirl's killing will never be known.

The programme, which aired on Channel 5 tonight, explained vile John Leathem never revealed the true reasoning behind the killing which devastated the teen's family two years ago.

Parents Pamela and Andy Munro spoke alongside the 15-year-old's friends, police and Evening Times reporter Maxine McArthur as the film delved behind the scenes of the murder investigation.

Viewers heard how the family and the Whitecrook community were rocked following Paige's disappearance on March 19, 2016.

Following the discovery of her body two days later, the small town was transformed overnight into a crime scene with everyone raising suspicion.

However, after courts threw out Leathem's excuse for killing the popular teen, claiming she had threatened to falsely report he had inappropriately touched her if he didn't give her a job in his Delicious Deli, it remains unknown what truly happened to the youngster.

The teen's mother is now adamant to meet her daughter's killer face-to-face in a bid to find out why he murdered her. 

He has refused her requests.
