Verdict: Four stars.

THERE is no mistaking the voice of George Ezra.

The singer has been a breath of fresh air since he first launched onto the scene in 2013 with his unique vocal stylings.

And it seems his Scottish fans feel the same as he was given a huge cheer when he bounced onto the stage to a sold-out crowd at the Barrowland Ballroom on Monday.

Opening up with his first of two nights at the iconic city venue with Don’t Matter Now, Get Away and Barcelona, the screams were deafening as George’s fans only took a break to sing in unison with his lyrics.

George is the kind of artist you want to see live. He was made for the stage and his albums are packed with songs which could have easily been hit singles in their own right.

Something he showed as he continued his impressive set with Pretty Shining People, which is the opening track from his second album Staying at Tamara’s.

Storytelling was a big feature throughout the show as George told his fans how songs came about and gave them an insight into his life.

This charismatic approach was received with enthusiasm but it seemed George was equally impressed with his audience who he praised with, “You are sounding good Glasgow,” before performing Listen To The Man.

Paradise followed and the atmosphere in the East End venue was simply electrifying before Song Six and Hold My Girl toned things down and were unexpected highlights.

Budapest, Blame It On Me and Shotgun provided a warm finale, and proved George is more than ready for his next city venture at the SSE Hydro next year.

George Ezra plays the SSE Hydro in Glasgow on March 15 next year.
