A POPULAR Glasgow bridal store has announced its shock closure today.

Berketex Brides Bath Street shop has gone into administration and will now cease trading with immediate effect.

A notice of intention to appoint administrators was filed by the firm on Friday.

Brides who are yet to receive their gowns are to contact bosses for an "update".

The firm's Edinburgh store is also to close today. 

A statement for the firm said: "If you have purchased items that you have not yet received from the company, please telephone 0114 3491388 or email berketex@wilsonfield.co.uk for a full update.

"If you were employed by the company and have not yet been updated regarding the status of your employment, please contact Jamie King of UKELC on 07515 176196 for a full update.

"The director of the company wishes to express his sincere apologies for the abrupt closure of the store and any subsequent inconvenience this may cause to customers of the company.

"Wilson Field Limited appreciate that this will be distressing for the customers of the company and will deal with individual queries as quickly as possible however we anticipate a high volume of calls and therefore ask for your patience in advance."
