A massive indoor play centre is to be created in a former Glasgow City Council building in the Gorbals.

Plans to transform the B-listed Printing Works building on Pollokshaws Road have been approved.

The building has suffered neglect and vandalism since it was shut down a number of years ago.

St Andrew’s Works was built in 1899 for Glasgow Corporation Electricity Department and used as a power plant.

It was originally a coal-fired generating station, until generation ceased on site in 1922.

In 1937, the facility was divided into two parts, the print works northern section was sold to Glasgow Corporation, now Glasgow City Council.

New life will be breathed into the building which will include a wide range of play facilities including

The proposal include a wide range of play facilities including activity foam pits set within an obstacle course frame, slides, zip wire and high level wires, parkour activity area, climbing stairway and climbing tower, freestyle trampoline zone, laser tag, virtual reality video games, themed family golf and a baby and toddler play zone.

A 55-space car park will be provided at the rear of the building.
