A dog walker in Glasgow's East End has shared a warning to locals after stumbling on drug users down a secluded path.

Colin Lemaire was heading to the Forge Retail Park on Thursday when his dog ran behind a wall on Millerston Street.

The owner thought his pet had come across a fox but was shocked to find two men taking drugs.

He has now warned parents and dog owners to be wary as he says there are needles lying around in areas where kids or pets could get hurt.

It comes as fears were raised over the increase in discarded needles being found close to a Dennistoun train station.

Local councillors Allan Casey and Jennifer Layden said they had received a number of complaints on the issue.

Colin wrote on Facebook: “Please be careful while out with your dogs and children.

“I was out with my dog going to the Forge Retail Park to meet my dad when my dog ran behind the wall at the bridge on Millerston Street and started going mental. I thought she had seen a fox but when I went round it was these two horrible clowns. Needles hanging out arms slouched all over the ground.

“They were quick in moving when I got p***** off and the dog went mental but just be careful because this is right behind the wall on the pavement loads of needles and rubbish were your kids or animals could get seriously hurt.”

An accompanying picture appears to show two men slumped over beside the wall with their arms visibly on show.

A number of items are strewn around them including needles.

Social media users have shared Colin's shock over the find.

Nicola Duffy said: "This is so sad. Imagine things being that bad you ended up in this situation."

David McLaughlan added: "Unfortunately it seems to be a problem along the whole of the rail line. There's always loads of them stoating around behind Morrison's and near the lines at Bellgrove. I'd imagine once the abattoir site is developed they'll hang around there too."
