A man is in a serious condition after being struck by a car in Glasgow's East End.

The 47-year-old man was hit by a silver coloured Renault Megane on Crownpoint Road, Gallowgate, around 5.50pm on Thursday.

He was rushed to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where his condition is described as serious.

The driver of the Megane, a 42-year-old man, was uninjured but badly shaken by the incident.

As previously reported by the Evening Times, the road was closed for several hours as crash scene investigators conducted enquiries.

Sergeant Kenny Malaney said: “I believe the road would have been busy with other motorists and pedestrians at the time of the incident and I am appealing to people who were there to contact us. In particular, I’m appealing for anyone with dash cam as their footage could assist us in our enquiries.

"Anyone with information is asked to call officers at the Road Policing Unit via 101, quoting incident number 3049 of Thursday 15 November 2018."
