IT’S the calendar that preserves the very best of our photography from yesteryear – and it evokes lots of memories in many of the people who see it.

The Evening Times’s Times Past calendar, the 2019 edition of which has just gone on sale, is a popular exercise in nostalgia.

Using some timeless images from our remarkable archives, the calendar shows shopping scenes, long-gone cinemas and street scenes. They show people at rest and at play.

Each year, we ensure that the calendar also benefits some excellent causes.

This year, half of all profits will go to the charity, Social Bite, which on December 8 will be staging a nationwide sleep-out to help end homelessness in Scotland.

Henry Ainslie, deputy editor of the Evening Times, said: “As you can see from this page, the Evening Times has always prided itself on its photography. Our photographers have always had a great eye for the offbeat and the telling detail.

“And because the images in the calendar are, in many cases, decades old, they appeal to people who love to take a wander down memory lane.”
