Scottish musical favourites The Proclaimers will end a mammoth 14-month world tour in Glasgow next year, it has been announced.

The pair are currently on their biggest ever sell out UK tour and will continue to travel the world before returning to Scotland next summer.

Brothers Craig and Charles Reid have so far sold more than 80,000 tickets for their UK shows this year and will be looking to continue this when they close their tour at the SSE Hydro on Saturday, September 14.

Also announced were two shows in tents in both Melrose and Inverness, as well as a trip to Edinburgh Castle, which will be the final stops on their trip to promote their latest album, Angry Cyclist, which was released in August.

The bandmates said: "It's our first major show in the Borders for several years, great to be returning to Bught Park and the Highlands audience, our first show back in the Castle for many years and also going back to the Hydro and closing our Angry Cyclist World tour with the final show in Glasgow.”

"We are looking forward immensely to coming home during the summer. The atmosphere in Scotland is unique and the whole band looks forward to the concerts.”

Tickets for the four shows go on sale Friday at 9am.
