Springburn has been awarded £20,252 to empower the local community to develop a plan to boost the local environment and regenerate the area.

Springburn Central Community Council secured the cash from the Scottish Government’s Making Places Fund bringing money to £40,000.

Community groups and individuals across the area will now be asked how they wish to see their local environment improved from the use of green space and brown field sites, to transport links and derelict buildings.

Bob Doris SNP MSP for Maryhill and Springburn welcomed the cash boost.

He said: “This award is a major vote of confidence in the people of Springburn. Over £20,000 from the Scottish Government, a significant financial contribution of £10,000 from ng homes and £8,000 from the Council’s Area Committee means there will now be £40,000 available to develop a community led strategic plan for regenerating Springburn and improving the range of amenities available.”
