HEALTH bosses will turn off the water supply at the Royal Hospital for Children after a bacteria scare.
This week and next, water will be shut off to the Glasgow hospital between midnight and 4am on Thursdays.
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde insisted there are no safety concerns following the discovery of bacteria, and patients will have access to portable toilets and sinks and commodes during the shut down.
A spokeswoman for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde said: "This is to allow the planned chlorine dioxide dosing to be carried out.
"This treatment will enable us to remove the temporary filters that were previously installed in certain wards at the Royal Hospital for Children.
"Clinicians have confirmed that there are no safety concerns and a mixture of cleaning wipes, hand gel, bottled water, portable sinks, commodes and portable toilets will be used during these short periods."
