ONE week after meeting her hero, seven year old Abby McConnell was back at a Glasgow art gallery to pick out a very special present from Sir Billy Connolly.

The comedy legend asked to meet Abby after he heard of her fundraising efforts for Parkinson’s UK, a cause close to Billy’s heart after his own diagnosis.

He arranged for Abby to come back into Castle Fine Art and take her pick from his own collection, Born on a Rainy Day, which covers his career as an artist.

Abby chose the signed print ‘Free Flight’ because: “I just love the colours in it and it’s so cheerful.”

The print is already taking pride of place in the McConnell’s living room at their home in Cathcart.

Nicola Duffy, Gallery Manager at Castle Fine Art, said: “Sir Billy’s exhibition has been incredibly popular.

“Visitors from near and far have been in to see ‘Born On A Rainy Day’ – the exhibition comprehensively covers his career as an artist.

“Abby’s meeting with Sir Billy was a real highlight of the week and we were delighted to be able to play our part in bringing these two stars together.”

Billy revealed five years ago that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease.

Born On A Rainy Day runs at the Castle Fine Art Gallery, Queen Street, Glasgow until November 30.
