POP rockers The 1975 will headline a show at this year’s Glasgow Summer Sessions at Bellahouston Park.

The band will play the city park on Sunday, August 25, alongside Twin Atlantic, You Me At Six, Pale Waves, Ten Tonnes and No Rome.

The show is third announced for the festival with Foo Fighters set to perform at the park on Saturday, August 17. The Cure, Mogwai, The Twilight Sad and The Joy Formidable will also put on a show the previous day on August 16.

The new show is the first time that the Manchester band has headlined the festival.

The band’s lead singer Matthew Healy is the son of actors Denise Welch and Tim Healy,

They are best known for hits Somebody Else, It’s Not Living (If It’s Not With You) and Too Time Too Time Too Time.

The Glasgow Summer Sessions were launched five years ago at Bellahouston Park in 2013. The event usually takes place in the last weekend of August over two to three nights, attracting an audience of up 100,000 people each year.

The festival was created by Geoff Ellis of DF Concerts and Live Nation UK. Geoff is also responsible for the city’s TRNSMT Festival which takes placed at the Glasgow Green in July.

Previous acts who have headlined the event include Kings of Leon, Eminem, David Guetta, The Killers, Paolo Nutini, Calvin Harris, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Biffy Clyro, Catfish and the Bottleman and Kendrick Lamar.

Popular DJ Avicii who sadly died earlier this year was also one of the first headliners for the festival.

Tickets for the show go on sale on Friday, November 30 at 9am.
