THE pioneering mentoring charity MCR Pathways has thanked the people of Glasgow after receiving UK recognition for its impact on more than a thousand young Scots.
The 2018 Children & Young People Now (CYP Now) Awards, held in London, saw MCR Pathways named as the winner of the Leaving Care category as well as being highly commended for Partnership Working with Glasgow City Council.
Founded in Glasgow in 2007, MCR Pathways supports young people in or on the edges of the care system through a model of weekly one-to-one mentoring.
Over the last 18 months, MCR Pathways has doubled the number of young people it supports to more than 1500 each week and currently operates it’s ‘Young Glasgow Talent’ programme in all 30 secondary schools within Glasgow City Council.
In 2018, MCR Pathways began its national expansion, establishing the mentoring programme in Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen.
Founder Iain MacRitchie said: “We’re very grateful to CYP Now for the award and high commendation and we’re completely focussed and committed to continuing our progress in 2019."
