A THEFT has taken place in a small village outside Glasgow weeks after a cash machine was also stolen.

The incident occurred in Forth, Lanark, between 1.30am and 1.45am this morning.

The front roller shutter door of the Co-op on Main Street was forced open and a quantity of cigarettes were stolen from within.

Police officers are now appealing for information following the incident.

Detective constable Mark Cummings, of Wishaw Police Office, said: “This is the second theft in quick succession that has taken place in Forth after a cash machine was stolen last month.

Glasgow Times:

“We are examining CCTV footage and carrying out door-to-door enquiries. However, we are appealing to anyone with any information to come forward and contact us.

“There are cars travelling along Main Street at all hours and we would be keen to speak to any drivers who may have dash-cam footage, or may have seen something out of the ordinary.

“Officers will be carrying out extra patrols in Forth to reassure the public.”
