A YOUNG woman from Glasgow’s Govanhill area has been named the city’s best apprentice.
Elaine McCready, 25, scooped the top prize in a NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde awards ceremony.
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde offers modern apprenticeships across a wide range of jobs in partnership with Glasgow Clyde College.
The programme offers on-the-job training in roles such as healthcare support workers, administrators, medical laboratory assistants, multi-skilled technicians and assistant clinical technologists.
Elaine, now has a permanent job as a clerical officer at Maryhill Health Centre and was announced as the Unison and Unite Modern Apprentice of the Year for demonstrating ‘consistently outstanding ability and commitment’ during her training.
