THEIR big SSE Hydro gig may not be until January but Snow Patrol’s Gary Lightbody says coming back to Glasgow is always like a homecoming.

And the Chasing Cars star and his band admitted being here always reminds them of their student days.

Gary who performed an incredible set at the Scottish Music Awards where the band picked up a gong for Artist of The Year told me: “It’s great to be back in Glasgow again. I spent fifteen years in Scotland from 1994 to 2009 here and Glasgow is our home. It’s great to see friends again and our friends are family.”

The lads recalled their extended student days here adding: “The main thing I remember is literally living this so called student life a lot longer than we should have been. We were in apartments with no electricity, no heating, one burner on the cooker working and we were well into our mid twenties.”

UPCOMING Indie group The Snuts we’re thrilled to record their new album in the same Glasgow studio as Susan Boyle.

The lads from Whitburn reckons they and the Blackburn singer have a lot in common.

Curly haired singer Jack said: “Susan is from Blackburn and we are from Whitburn so she’s from the same young team as us. We recorded in Gorbals Sound and so did she and we’ve got massive, beautiful sounds too.”

The lads who play SWG3 on December 29 were looking forward to stacking some bottles of wine away at the music awards. Jack joked: “Its usually extortionate so we might as well.”

I ended up having a private screening of Its A Wonderful Life at the swish Blythswood Hotel at the weekend - and I’m now Christmassed up.

Moet Chandon were launching their festive Moet Moment with The Perfect Serve of chilled Moet from the Magnum.

At the elegant bash, guests were treated to a welcoming Christmas choir, truffle popcorn, special cocktails and woodland foodie delights including Loch Fyne smoked salmon served with lemon & caviar cream cheese, and pigs in blankets which will be available from now until Hogmanay.

Guests were also invited to watch the cosy movie downstairs as part of the proceedings but ended up getting so carried away with the bubbles and great chat that they missed the showing.

It felt good to have it all to myself. Merry Christmas, movie house. And happy Chanukah too.
