A TEENAGER has sustained serious head injuries after being hit by a car in the East End of Glasgow.

The incident, on Monday, took place at around 4.30pm.

Police said a 17-year-old female was crossing Shettleston Road, at its junction with Duke Street, close to the Forge Shopping Centre.

A Black BMW 320 travelling west struck her. The driver and members of the public stopped to assist the young woman while emergency services were on their way.

She sustained serious head injuries and was taken by ambulance to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

Police officers in Glasgow are now appealing for information.

Sergeant Kenneth Canavan, of the Greater Glasgow Road Policing Unit, said: “Shettleston Road at its junction with Duke Street is adjacent to the Forge Shopping Centre and was very busy at the relevant time. I would urge anyone who saw the incident take place, or who may have dash-cam footage, to come forward.

“We have already spoken to a number of people, however, if you stopped to assist and have not yet spoken to police we would ask you to get in touch.”

Anyone with information should contact the Road Policing Department in Glasgow via 101. Quote incident number 2713 as of Monday, December 3 when calling.
