Detectives have announced that they are treating the death of a 41-year-old woman in Ayr last month as murder.
Police made the announcement as they revealed the name of the town resident, Ann McLean. Family have been made aware.
The lady was found dead following a disturbance in a busy Ayr street on November 28.
Officers have now said they are following a positive line of enquiry.
Emergency services swooped on Main Road at around 5.25am in the morning following reports a man had been injured following a serious assault.
He was rushed to hospital.
A police spokesperson said: "Following further enquiries, detectives are now treating the death as murder.

"The deceased can be named as Ann McLean. Relatives are aware.
"Extensive enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Ayr CID via 101, quoting incident number 0380 of Wednesday 28 November 2018.”
