A GLASGOW brewery have announced they are to provide free hot meals on Christmas Day for those in need.

Bosses at Drygate Brewery announced this week that they are to open their doors on December 25 for the homeless, vulnerable and elderly.

The east end bar, business and eatery will be open for three hours between 12pm and 3pm as the business look to give back to the community during the festive season.

The initiative has been made possible after one of the company’s suppliers gifted Drygate food to be used on Christmas Day.

Staff at the venue have also volunteered to ‘work’ on the day and all other measures have been put in place ahead of the opening.

It is expected that the Duke Street eatery will provide as many as 60 meals across the three hours on Tuesday, December 25.

The venue added that no alcoholic beverages would be available on the day for licensing reasons.

Bosses have said they are pleased to be able to help those in need over the Christmas period after the idea was suggested by a staff member.

In a message online, they posted: “Can I ask you to pass this on to anyone you know who needs somewhere warm for a few hours and a good meal.”
