UPDATE: Heartbreaking tributes to boy, 15, dead after being hit by HGV. Read more here
THE TEENAGE boy who was left fighting for his life in hospital after being hit by an HGV in South Lanarkshire has died.
The Evening Times reported at the weekend how, at around 9.25pm on Saturday, the teen was struck on Townhead Street in Strathaven.
The driver did not stop after hitting the boy, with police saying it was “likely” he didn’t realise the boy had been struck.
Emergency services attended and he was rushed by ambulance to Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride where he was being treated for his injuries.
Hospital staff had described his condition as critical.
This morning, however, Police Scotland confirmed the boy succumbed to his injuries in hospital on Wednesday.
A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
