A MAN who was caught hiding in a pensioner’s bathroom after bursting into her house has been refused a cab driver’s licence.

Marcin Kudanowski had hoped to take up employment on Glasgow’s roads in a bid to earn extra cash while studying to become a fitness coach.

But the city’s licensing bosses threw out his application after cops warned that he had been convicted after breaking into the home on Alderman Road in Knightswood last year.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman revealed that the incident happened after Mr Kudanowski had attempted to enter three separate vehicles – including a car which had its owner inside.

After failing to gain entry, he knocked on a 76-year-old’s door and when she answered he sprinted past her and locked himself in the bathroom in an attempt to evade cops.

Despite that, officers were able to pinpoint his location and he was arrested.

Explaining his actions to Glasgow’s licensing committee, Mr Kudanowski said: “I was drinking with my friends during that occasion and I had lost my girlfriend.

“I can’t explain my actions other than to say I don’t remember anything from that night. I now don’t drink at all.

“I was working as a courier for three years without any points and now I’m a student with no job.”

The licensing committee were unimpressed by Mr Kudanowski’s explanation, which was branded “unacceptable” by chairman Alex Wilson.

He also described the student’s actions as “very disturbing” before the committee refused the application.

Committee member Martha Wardrop added: “As a private hire cab driver you work with vulnerable people and this unusual behaviour makes me think you’re not suited to working with the public.”

The refusal means that Mr Kudanowski will not be able to apply for a private hire cab driver’s licence for at least one year.
