MORE cops will be drafted in to police Glasgow city centre and handle the festive revellers coming in for Christmas parties on the traditional Black Friday weekend.
Chief Inspector Audrey Hand, who is based at Stewart Street Police Office, confirmed that there will extra officers in the city centre this weekend, and next to handle the spike in calls.
The city centre policing plan includes tactics such as high-visability patrols.
Officers from the Mounted Unit and plain-clothed cops will also be thrown into the mix to ensure that revellers stay safe over the festivities.
And the top city centre cop’s message is clear to those revellers - watch your alcohol intake and be aware of your own personal safety.
She said: “We have these two Fridays before Christmas that we know are big days for festive party nights. It is just important that we send out the right messages and we assist people.
“We want to make sure that Glasgow is as safe as possible for people coming in.”
Police Scotland have issued advice to help revellers stay safe over the busy festive period. Anyone attending a Christmas party night is advised to stay with their friends, stick to plans, have travel arranged and be careful of what you drink.
Don’t leave drinks unattended and stay away from drugs, new psychoactive substances or other controlled substances.
City centre cops will work with other partners to ensure help is given to those who need it and people are kept safe.
