THE girlfriend of Celtic striker Leigh Griffith has shared a touching social media post as the footballer takes time out to “seek professional help.”

Caitlyn Melville posted an image on Instagram of herself with her boyfriend on a night out.

Holding his face in the picture as she leans in for a kiss, the caption on the post reads: After the darkness there will always be light.. I promise you that.”

The 28-year-old Scotland international’s ex-girlfriend Linzi McCartney, with whom he has three children, also shared an emotional image of Griffith with their kids on the pitch.

She simply captioned hers with a series of love hearts.

Another ex Vikki Burns, who is also mother of his daughter, said: “The most important thing in this world is family and love.”

As reported by the Evening Times, Griffiths will be out of football for personal reasons “for a little period of time” as he “seeks professional help,” revealed Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers on Wednesday.

Rodgers explained an incident with Griffiths brought the striker’s illness to a head when a number of senior players intervened in order to try and facilitate some help for the Scotland internationalist.

The Hoops boss also admitted Griffiths had been dealing with “a number of issues outside of the football environment.”

Griffiths was reported missing to police by concerned friends this week, it also emerged.

A Police Scotland spokesman told the Evening Times: “Police were called at around 6.20pm to the Park Drive area, in Wallyford, on Monday, December 10 to a report of a concern for a person who was later found less than two hours later in Edinburgh City Centre.”

Griffiths, who recently returned from illness and another calf injury, came off the bench in the 5-1 Ladbrokes Premiership win over Kilmarnock at the weekend, but is out of Celtic’s Europa League Group B clash with Salzburg at Parkhead on Thursday night.
