AMERICAN actress Ruby Wax has taken over Glasgow Silverburn's social media sites - and it's hilarious.

The star invited the city to unload its Christmas woes via the Pollok-based centre's Twitter channel while her alter ego "Banta Claus" sets out to save the day.

Using #SilverburnBantaClause or @Shopsilverburn, followers could vent their holiday problems, whilst Ruby shared and alternative solution.

Among the concerns was one lad who claimed his employer hadn't paid him his wages meaning he couldn't start his Christmas shopping until December 21.

Ruby was quickly on the case and contacted the firm but they refused to speak with her without verbal consent from the man himself.

Another cheeky Twitter user asked the star if she had ever visited the centre and how much she was being paid for her new gig.

She responded: "Thanks for your concern!

"They are paying me enough to answer personal questions such as how much I'm getting paid.

"I have been to Silverburn many times, in fact I used to live there in the 70s."

Speaking about her day, she added: “Christmas isn’t for everyone, I should know!

"Speaking from experience, the festivities can often bring many moans, groans and frustrations for people across the country.

"Being the resident Banta Claus for Silverburn though, was a brilliant opportunity to respond to the haters with some tongue-in-cheek festive cheer, and I loved every minute of it!

"I hope my alter-ego turned some frowns upside down and made people love and laugh at the season rather than loathe it."
