AN attempted murder enquiry has been launched after a young man was deliberately hit by a car in Glasgow in the early hours of this morning.

The 20-year-old was struck by a vehicle at around 1.35am on Carnarvon Street, near Charing Cross.

Emergency services attended and the victim was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where medical staff describe his condition as stable.

Detectives are now treating the incident as attempted murder and are looking to the public for information.

Detective sergeant Nita Bhatt, from Drumchapel CID, said: “Enquiries are at a very early stage to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and we are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

“It is vital we speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of Carnarvon Street in the early hours of this morning who saw or heard anything at all suspicious.

“We would also urge any motorists with dashcams who were in the area to check their footage in case they have captured the vehicles involved.”

The force also added that a number of vehicles were in the street at the time of the incident.
