CELEBRITY favourite Mulberry is to open a new, expanded store in Glasgow, based on the brand's outlet on London's Regent Street.

The luxury handbag retailer has signed a new 10-year lease to operate at 197-207 Ingram Street, and will relocate into the neighbouring unit next year.

The company will unveil a store concept similar to that of its new Regent Street store, which was officially opened during London Fashion Week.

It was designed by Faye Toogood in partnership with Mulberry creative director Johnny Coca.

The brand is a firm favourite with celebs including style guru Alexa Chung, Blake Lively and Kate Bosworth.

Fashion label GANT also plans to open on Ingram Street next year, joining Armani, Brora, Hugo Boss, Ralph Lauren and Cruise.

John Menzie, of Savills Glasgow, said:“The relocation of Mulberry embeds the perception that the street is Glasgow’s leading designer fashion destination where luxury brands choose to stay."

With a catchment over 1.8m and more than 91m shoppers visiting Glasgow each year, Savills says the city is the UK’s second most popular retailing destination, after London’s West End.
