A GANG of men in black clothing and hooded tops carried out an unprovoked attack on a lone male.

Cops are now hunting a group who stabbed the man in South Lanarkshire.

The 35-year-old remains in a stable condition in hospital following the incident on Wolcott Drive, Blantyre, at around 7pm on Saturday.

Officers were called to a fight said to have involved around six to eight men, all wearing black clothing and hooded tops.

The injured man was treated and taken to Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride.

Detective Constable Andrew Fearnside said: "This would appear to be a totally unprovoked attack on a man who had nothing to do with the group of men who were fighting in the street.

"Officers are currently carrying out local inquiries and viewing CCTV footage to try and gain more information and are appealing to anyone with information to contact Cambuslang CID via telephone number 101 quoting incident number 3466 of December 29, 2018."
